Huw Lewis-Jones, doctor por la Universidad de Cambridge, es historiador especializado en el campo de la exploración. Ha sido conservador del Instituto Scott de Investigaciones Polares y del Museo Marítimo Nacional de Londres. En la actualidad, es un premiado autor que escribe y da conferencias sobre viajes de aventura y artes visuales. Todos los años viaja al Ártico y a la Antártida como guía polar y siente fascinación por las islas remotas y los entornos salvajes. Entre sus libros figuran Ocean Portraits, The Crossing of Antarctica, The Conquest of Everest, con el que ganó el premio History del Festival de Banff Mountain, y, más recientemente, Across the Arctic Ocean.
