Stephen Farthing es pintor y profesor de dibujo en la University of the Arts de Londres. En 1990 fue nombrado profesor de la Escuela Ruskin de Dibujo de la Universidad de Oxford y en 1998 fue elegido miembro de la Royal Academy of Arts de Londres. Es licenciado en pintura por el Royal College of Art de Londres y da clases de bellas artes desde 1977. Es el editor de 1.001 Paintings You Must See Before You Die.
