Tanya Byrne nació en Londres, antes de mudarse a Brighton con su perra Frida. Tras ocho años trabajando en la BBC Radio, decidió escribir la que sería su primera novela, Heart-Shaped Bruise, publicada por Headline y por la que fue nominada a Nueva Escritora del Año en los National Book Awards. Desde entonces ha escrito cuatro novelas más y ha participado en varias antologías de cuentos, incluida A Change Is Gonna Come, nombrado Libro infantil de la semana del Sunday Times.
