Marilynne Robinson
Nació en Sandpoint, Idaho, en 1943. Es doctora en Literatura inglesa por la Universidad de Washington. Ha compaginado una extensa trayectoria profesional en el mundo de la docencia con su faceta investigadora y ensayística ha publicado numerosos artículos en Harper's, The Paris Review y The New York Times Book Review , amén de convertirse, con tan sólo tres novelas, en una de las voces más influyentes de la narrativa americana de las últimas décadas. Su ópera prima, Housekeeping (1980), se alzó con el premio PEN/Hemingway y fue finalista del Pulitzer. Tuvieron que transcurrir veinticuatro años hasta que viera la luz la novela que encumbró definitivamente a Robinson: Gilead, el testimonio de un pastor metodista en una pequeña localidad de Iowa, narrada en clave epistolar a su hijo de siete años, que fue galardonada, entre otros, con el premio Pulitzer 2005 y el National Book Critic Circles Award 2004. En 2008 publicó Home, cuya acción es contemporánea a Gilead y la complementa, y que se alzó con el Orange Prize a la mejor novela de ficción. En 2010, Marilynne Robinson ha sido elegida miembro de la American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
