IAN RANKIN (Cardenden, 1960) es uno de los escritores con más carácter de la novela negra actual y su personaje, John Rebus, uno de los policías más carismáticos del género. En 1987, inició con i Nudos y cruces /i la aclamada serie de novelas ambientadas en su Escocia natal, que está siendo publicada por RBA. Con i Asuntos internos /i dio comienzo a una nueva saga protagonizada por el inspector Malcolm Fox. Entre los numerosos galardones con los que se ha reconocido su talento destacan el Edgar Award, recibido en dos ocasiones por i Resurrección /i y i Black and Blue /i (novela que recibió también el Gold Dagger), el Grand Prix de Littérature Policière por i En la oscuridad /i , el Premio Pepe Carvalho 2010 por toda su trayectoria y el X Premio RBA de Novela Policiaca 2016 por i Perros salvajes /i . Asimismo, es caballero de la Orden del Imperio Británico.
