Mary Pope Osborne
Mary Pope Osborne nació el 20 de mayo de 1949 en Fort Sill, Oklahoma (EE UU). Hija de un militar, su infancia se vio marcada por los continuos cambios de residencia de su familia. A los quince años de edad había pasado por Austria y por los estados de Florida, Virginia y Carolina del Norte en su país. Durante el instituto fue una apasionada del teatro y estudió Arte Dramático en la Universidad de Carolina del Norte. Después se mudó a Nueva York, donde continúa residiendo junto a su marido, Will Osborne, actor y escritor también, con quien se casó en 1976 y con el que ha escrito conjuntamente libros sobre mitos griegos. De 1993 a 1997 fue presidenta de la Authors Guild, la organización de escritores más veterana de los Estados Unidos. x{0026} 34;La casa mágica del árbolx{0026} 34; es su serie de libros infantiles más conocida, editada por SM en nuestro país. Escribió el primer libro de esta colección en 1992 y pronto se convirtió en un éxito internacional, traducida a más de veinte lenguas. Entre los reconocimientos logrados obstenta el National Council of Teachers of English, el American Booksellers Association, el Ludington Memorial Award de la Educational Paperback Association y un Lifetime Achievement Award de su casa editorial en Estados Unidos. x{0026} 34;La casa mágica del árbolx{0026} 34; fue adaptada por su marido como musical infantil y se estrenó en 2007. Le apasiona la mitología y ha viajado por varios países asiáticos, como Afganistán, Irán, Iraq, Pakistán, India y Nepal. Ha publicado más de cien libros y vendido millones de copias alrededor del mundo. Además de libros infantiles, también ha cultivado el álbum ilustrado, novelas de misterio, biografías y adaptaciones de mitos griegos.
