Matthew Beaumont es profesor en el Departamento de Inglés en el University College de Londres. Es autor de "Utopia Ltd.: Ideologies of Social Dreaming in England 1870-1900" y "Night Walking. A nocturnal History of London", así como coautor, junto a Terry Eagleton, de "The Task of the Critic: Terry Eagleton in Dialogue" y coeditor de numerosas colecciones de ensayos, como "Restless Cities" o "Adventures in Realism".
